Can I Get By On Two Pence?

I keep a two pence (or tuppence if you prefer to run it together like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins) coin in my pocket.  I actually carry a few of them as I give them to little kids who (here in the US) are amazed to see the “giant penny.”  Even as I am giving them away I always am sure to keep one back.  It is my “reminder coin.”  It reminds me that being faithful Continue reading

No Kingdom – No Peace

St Michael and St GeorgeThe struggle is going to continue until God’s Kingdom is fully established and the very presence of sin is banished

When that day comes, you want to be standing with those who stood firm – When the faithful will enter into the fullness of God’s Kingdom and experience His endless Peace, Joy and Comfort

Until that day – Christian, you are a member of Christ’s Church militant here on earth. Do not be not be ashamed to confess the faith of Christ crucified, and faithfully to fight under Jesus’ banner, against sin, the world, and the devil; and to continue Christ’s faithful soldier and servant unto your life’s end.
AMEN

The Church of St John the Evangelist is a parish very close to Waterloo Station in London.  During a recent visit to the city my wife and I happened to stay nearby the parish.  As we walked by on our way to the Southbank we learned the parish was having a church fête.

We decided to stop and enjoy the party for a little while enjoying the food, music, and games.  We tried a few times to beat the odds of some games of chance and win some prizes Continue reading

The Sign Outside the Bar said Safe Sex Games

Safe Sex GamesI intended to go over and take a photo of the sign outside of the bar that said: Safe Sex Games 18+ Welcome.  Actually, I did go over to take the picture but I was too late – they had already changed their sign to some other outrageous offering for their 18+ clientele.  Continue reading

Pomp and Vain Glory

The lyrics of the hymn we were singing said, “Your majesty, I can but bow.  I lay my all before You now.  In royal robes I don’t deserve I live to serve Your majesty.”  Continue reading

Do You Want to Be Healed?

Jesus asked the paralyzed man who was lying near the Pool of Bethesda, “Do you want to be healed?”  The question seems to have an obvious answer – the man had been laying there for 38 years.  Why would he not want to be healed?  Continue reading
